  1. Owners are under the false impression that they want the vehicles to last forever, they are only concerned with the warranty, after that its no longer their problem, its yours. GM sells new vehicles, they don't want yours to last for ever, they want to sell you a new one. The bean counters ask the designers if we do this and use this will is last the warranty? If the engineers answer yes, then the are not going to spend more money to make something better. Just because is costs a lot of money is no reason to think it should last longer. A friend has a Range Rover and its a nice vehicle. But as she says, don't buy one unless you can afford the repairs as they cost a fortune and they are riddled with issues. She barely has 25,000 miles on here 2021 and already they had to replace the brakes 2x and that's not covered under warranty. Not to mention the closest dealer is 400 miles away.
  2. There is also a shortage of trucks and drivers causing long delays. Some areas of the country are much worse than others. Friend is a truck driver for a big National retailer and he says, shortage of drivers is delaying everything. They are offering drivers huge bonuses if they can recruit a driver for their team with starting salary of $97,500/yr. He's been a driver for 22+ yrs and he says, back when he started everyone wanted to be a driver, now no one does. Now its teachers and cops that are in demand. Blame it on all the covid hype that started all this.
  3. According to GM: Internal components related to AFM or DFM function will be present in engines; wiring, connectors, and fuses will be present in vehicles with RPO YK9. The ECM will not be capable of activating the cylinder deactivation technology. When diagnosing and repairing concerns with base engine or electrical function which may be related to AFM or DFM related hardware; utilize appropriate diagnostics within SI and replace any needed components as directed by the Electronic Parts Catalog; no changes will occur to AFM or DFM related components. Important: Any truck designated with RPO YK9 CANNOT be reprogrammed and changed to “Turn on” the AFM/DFM functionality.
  4. Probably no wiring exists to add them so you would need all the wiring harness's if you can find out which ones it would be. Wiring harness can get very expensive.
  5. Lots are not really 'regular production options' (RPO) but components. The SPID label or QR code lists rpo and component info for service parts identification. Some are just going to show components for the particular vehicle such as suspension components which can vary vehicle to vehicle depending the weights of options etc etc. SPID - Service Parts Indentifation
  6. Voltmeter Fluctuation Condition Some customers may comment that the voltmeter is fluctuating between 12 and 14 volts on their full size pickup or utility vehicle. Starting with the 2005 model year, light duty full size pickups and utilities are equipped with a new Regulated Voltage Control (RVC) system. This system reduces the targeted output of the generator to 12.6-13.1 volts when in "Fuel Economy Mode" to improve fuel economy. The generator may exit "Fuel Economy Mode" if additional voltage is required. This will cause the voltmeter to fluctuate between 12 and 14 volts as opposed to non-regulated systems that usually maintain a more consistent reading of 14 volts. This fluctuation with the RVC system is normal system operation and NO repairs should be attempted.
  7. Wishful thinking. That would be a nightmare for them to endure. Can you imagine a 1,000 people a day showing up bitching about this and that?

  9. My 2021 is the same and I have factory Bridgestone Alenza Tires which are not aggressive. Its the design with the fender sticking out. I have factory retractable running boards and I have NEVER driven on any gravel roads but I do drive on winter snow/ice covered and salted and sanded roads. Only fix is to repaint but that's not cheap..More noticeable on darker colors like black.
  10. I think I would have the trans fluid changed out and I would not put in anything with a GM name on it. With all the issues related to ATF with the 8sp in the 1500, I would not be surprised if the GM bean counters are at work again cutting corners.

  12. Expecting to get a deal below MSRP is unreasonable given the current market conditions. They have more customers than vehicles so they will not discount it. Your only hope to the bargain on the trade-in but also realize they are looking for newer model vehicles, 1-4 yrs old trucks, high mileage vehicles are not getting high $, they want trucks that still have the GM warranty.
  13. Something must be bent. Probably going to have to replace some parts that have been tweaked but which ones? I have no Idea if parts are even available? A dealer body shop might have more knowledge, that would be my advice. They may know some tricks you don't. On my 2017 the rear pass door did not align well. I tried to adjust it by loosing the hinges but could not get it to align. 15 min in the dealer body shop and they had it perfect.
  14. I'm sure you will find out that its a GM accessory add-on version and is not the JL8 Factory Installed Model. A friend had one installed by dealer and he insisted it was the factory version. Its was not
  15. These updates are primarily POI's (Points of Interest) such as motels, restaurants etc. As long I have had Nav since my 2009 CTS a road here is misnamed and its still misnamed on my 2021 Nav. Years ago I pointed that out to someone at customer service but they said the maps come from an outside source and there no way for them to provide corrections. HERE Technologies is on my SD card.
  16. I read somewhere that GM intends to handle this like they do with a recall. Once parts are available to ship to your dealer they will send a letter informing you to contact the dealer for an appointment. No time frame was given but since they are still producing vehicles missing chips, it might be a long wait. My guess? Not in 2022!
  17. It would appear that did it. A couple hundred lbs unsupported weight on the t-gate and bouncing around traveling?
  18. A friend is in the PowerSports rental business and is a Bombardier (CAMAM, SKIDOO) authorized rental dealer. He get dealer prices on parts and lubricants from CanAM, Skidoo etc. Well about 2 yrs ago that stopped as they jacked up his prices so high it made AMSOIL look like discount oil. So he became an AMSOIL dealer (to get the lowest prices) about 2 yrs ago and that's all he buys now, mostly by the drum, up to a doz a year, mostly 2 stroke but the fleet is moving to 4-stroke gradually. After a year of use he sells off the old rides and get all new, part of his deal with SkIdoo and CanAm that he rents current year models, approx. 50, snowmobiles, ATV/UTV and Jetski's. Not only has he saved a lot of $$ on oil, he told me last month he has not lost one engine since he switched to AMSOIL Interceptor. It was not uncommon to have a few engines go down on the snowmobiles as renters can push them to 100 mph on trails. The units get lots of miles. . That's more profits for the comp.
  19. Local dealer told me if you order a new vehicle, plan on at least 6-months (or more) before seeing it. The more optioned and higher trim level the longer the time frame. Production is scheduled to start 08/29/22, according to published reports.
  20. A license is a revenue stream.
  21. Why do you think some oils are cheaper? Where do you think they cut the corners? Did they use cheaper oil base stocks and additive packages? Did they cut back on quality control? How can they afford to spends millions of $$ on advertising and still make money if they claim their oil is best?
  22. The postal service is now taking longer to deliver mail so don't wait till the last minute to mail payments or they might not get there in time. First class used to be 1-3 days, its now 1-5 days.....

  24. Recent news reports say GM has over 95,000 vehicles waiting for parts so its going to be a long wait to clear those units. The predict sometime before the end of the year. Local dealer here is saying 6-months from date of production till it arrives. Friend has 4 k1500 CC work trucks on order for his company and that's what they are telling him.
