  1. Anyone happen to know how many gallons of gas you have when the gas light comes on? I drive a 99 silverado 1500 5.3L v8.
  2. Is anyone running larger than stock tires on a new 6.6 gas 2500 or 3500? Interested in learning about what kind of hit your mpg took if so, and would love to hear any feedback on your setup.
  3. Hello everyone, Lets get a small thread going on towing MPG. Please show what you towed, rough weight, and maybe a small map of your route. Please also add what you have On a 268.7 mile trip to the lake, i was able to get 13.4MPG. 3/4 highway doing 60-68mph and 1/4 city. Towed just fine for roughly 3500Lbs. TRIM: LT MOTOR: 5.3L DFM TRANS:8-speed 4x4?: 4x4
  4. Hey all, I recently had a 7.5in vertex lift installed on my 2011 Silverado by a very reputable shop. Truck looks awesome but my mpgs took a major hit. Only fill up with premium. I know trucks aren’t known for stellar gas mileage but going from 15/18 to ~11 mpg is a killer. Truck specs: - 5.3L with Diablo afm disabler used to prevent oil consumption (it works). - 18x8.5 in wheels with 275/65 duratracs (nitrogen inflated). 2in spacers all around. - K&N air filter. - new plugs and wires with ~30k miles on them. - flowmaster super 44 dual exhaust. I’ve cleaned the throttle body and MAF. Hooked up my obd II and no codes. Other than removing the lift what can I do? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello, I’ve got a 2008 GMC Sierra SLT with z71 package. I’ve had it stock until this year (2020). Recently put a level it in and had the truck aligned and it ran great. Went to put new tires and rims which are 33x12.5 Toyo open country AT2 extremes on 18x9 fuel assault wheels. The truck obviously had a decrease in power and mpg but recently it has gotten significantly worse. On HWY I can get 18-16 but recently in the city I am getting 11mpg!!! I live in a city with a lot of hills and windy driving so I can attribute that to some of it but it seems low. I’ve looked around and some guys suggest checking air sensors and tune ups, but I am wondering at what point is it a bigger issue? Or is it the reality of a lifted truck with heavy tires? any suggestions are welcome, it has not been 11mpg for long just the last month. Thanks
  6. Hey All, Just curious what type gas so you all use for these trucks? I'm running 89 but I didn't know if these trucks perform better with one type over the other, any added performance or mpg boost with one? I want to see if I'm wasting the little extra I pay for 89 if 87 is the same thing.

  8. In case you were wondering how these stack up to the Ram 1500, the 2WD Ram has a rating of 20 MPH City / 28 MPG Highway / 23 Combined. A V6 gasoline-powered Canyon or Colorado with 4WD has a 17 MPG City / 24 MPG Highway / 20 MPG Combined Rating. The efficiency advantages to the diesel are real. Even when adjusted for a higher average price for diesel the Duramax will likely still be ahead ion terms of fuel economy (fuel cost per mile) as well. Range with the dual tanks in the trucks is also amazing. GM says the trucks can go 651 miles (maximum) without refueling. The cost adder for the Duramax over a V6 truck is about $3,730. Obviously that buys a lot of regular unleaded. Luckily, the Duramax has advantages beyond just fuel efficiency. Towing being the most notable. One aspect of which is smart diesel exhaust braking. This type of braking enhances vehicle control and reduces brake wear by reducing the need for breaking on downgrades according to GM. Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing commented on the Duramax trucks, saying, “GMC's Canyon is designed for those who want a smart-sized premium pickup that is quiet, capable and efficient and the new Duramax diesel engine gives customers another choice for handling heavier work and recreational needs – while doing it efficiently. It’s the very definition of GMC’s professional grade ethos.” Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing offered up his two-cents, saying, “The Colorado Duramax diesel is in a league of its own. Colorado’s gas models already led the segment in fuel efficiency, and the new diesel – which no other non-GM competitor offers on a midsize truck – gives customers even greater freedom to go where they want with fewer fill-ups.” The Canyon we drove recently was loaded and had an MSRP of $45K. Expect shipments to dealers to begin any day.

  15. Late last night, a GM-Trucks.com member noticed that the 2015 Silverado fuel economy numbers had been updated at fueleconomy.gov. Only available with the 420-horsepower 6.2L V8 engine, GM's new 8-speed will net Silverado and Sierra owners 1-additional MPG in both city and highway driving. We will report on the "official" numbers if and when the company releases them publicly. 16. 3.6L V6 Chevrolet Colorado & GMC Canyon Fuel Economy 2WD: 18mpg city / 21mpg combined / 26mpg highway 4WD: 17mpg city / 20mpg combined / 24mpg highway “The all-new 2015 GMC Canyon adds segment-leading fuel economy to its winning resume,” said Kenn Bakowski, Canyon marketing manager. “Innovations such as available active grille shutters combine with an aerodynamic design in a smaller, more maneuverable package to set a new standard for fuel economy in midsize trucks.”
