Best Bang For The Buck On Tires

Well I ordered up a RC 2" leveling kit for my '09 Sierra. And I'm looking to put some 285's (17 inch rims by the way) on it in the winter. I'm a full time college student and just bought this truck in May, so funds aren't short but I need to know about how much to save for tires.

I had some Federal Couriaga M/T's on my 01 Chevy and thought they looked great until the wheel wall gave out when I was running down the interstate and had a blow out (followed by several other people who had the same tires) I was looking at some Cooper Discoverer M/T's or some Toyo M/T's. I was just wondering what everyones opinion is on different brands and what type you like.

Thanks

Sux about those federals i was eyeing them up, I have been running hte pro-comp extreme ATs because they last so long but I wanted something more aggresive, and they are appealing because of how cheap the 35s are I could replace them more often but ur not the first person that has had that problem.

Yeah, I had a set of federals. Back driver side blew out riding down the interstate and of course parts to let the spare down were missing (sucks getting a hand-me down truck) so I got a new one put on by the local Gateway I was near. So then washing my truck one day and noticed all on the wheel wall where the grips were there were reverse "L" shaped splits in the tires.

Week later, buddy of mine has a blow out in the back while hauling a trailer. Using Federals.

2 weeks ago, notice the same splits in my fathers tires and he went ahead and got new ones before a blow out happened because it messed by bumper and supports all up when it blew out on mine.

They are great looking tires and perform very well in the mud, but I had mine for 9 months before the one blew.

I have the Toyo Open Country A/T's and so far they are great for the money. I only paid $480 for all four (but that doesnt include mounting and balancing)

haha...no. They are 265/70/R17's. I dont know where you shop but that sounds expensive. What size are your tires?

What about Pro-Comps? I haven't seen too many around here (Northern Mississippi) but I saw some today and they look real good. Just got my front end leveled out today. I forgot how much I missed a truck sitting like a truck until I got mine done today. Hopefully looking for tires soon...

best bang for buck in tires i would say is bridgestone revos A/T or bfgoodrich a/t ko this are 2 great tires, i just bought revos for my truck and they are by far the best tire i have ever put on my truck before the revos i had nitto a/t they sucked . go to tirerack.com look up reviews on a/t and m/t and u will find that revos and

bfg a/t are the best tires you can buy for a truck!!

revos a/t score 98/100 and have 69,014,704 total miles reported to tirerack

bfgoodrich a/t score 93/100 and have 72,203,413 total miles reported to tirerack

when i went to price tires

the price for the revos i payed 1400.00 CAD for 275/55r20

the price for the bfg are 1800.00 CAD for 285/55r20 they don't come in my stock size

The BFGoodrich MT km2 are a nice tire and they are not very expensive. I had a set before i got my Hankooks and i would definitely go back to those tires again. I spent about $1000 on them if i remember correctly. The size was 285/70/17

How much noise (pavement) did the BFG MT's give you? I was looking at those but was wondering about the road noise because I run 200 miles back and forth between college once a month or so... My federal's weren't that bad but my buckshots before that you couldn't even talk on the phone.

I didnt find them to bad for noise. You could still talk on the phone, you can tell they are there but its not terrible. I made a few 700km trips out to Saskatchewan on them and it was fine. They are not the best on ice though. Thats why i got the Hankooks i have now.
