I have a 2008 silverado and this weekend my passenger side AC stopped working (fan worked, temp did not). Driver side blew cool air but passenger side felt like the heat was on. Dual zone controls were both set on the same temp. I turned the passenger side controls off and still the same thing. Turned it to Auto and same thing.

 

I'm taking the truck to the dealer tomorrow but I was curious if anyone else has experience this.

 

It was a very hot day with heat indexes above 100. Once I parked the truck for a while everything worked fine and I haven't been able to duplicate it since.

Could be door controls or the actuator. I'd put my first look-see into the actuator I don't know if the 2000 has vacumn or electric door actuators.

1988 & up heater controls are all electric in FS trucks.

Had that happen on mine, indeed the actuator (electronic)

Yesterday, I was driving along, started raining, and I hit the defrost button on my auto HVAC control. Air started blowing on the windshield, as intended.

 

After a bit, I wanted to switch back to Auto, and no matter what I did, the vents would not move. It was "locked" in the defrost position. Fiddled with it for a while. Finally, decided to stop the engine, pull the key, and "reboot" everything. Working fine since, but.....

 

Maybe the software in the BCM got hosed up and reset itself.
