stock tbi 350, fresh reman....2 questions:

1) If I just clean the throttle body injection unit, will it be ok?

and

2) would a chip / tune do much on a TBI engine (and 4L60E trans) for a 94 model? I know of the difference it makes on the newer trucks, but, will it help a TBI motor much?

You do not see the improvement that you do with a 96 and newer vehicle or OBD2. It is worth it though. I have a hypertech chip in my 95 and I like it, but if I was going to do it again I would have a custom burned chip. There are a couple company's that do this out there. You give them your specs and what you want changed and they will burn a chip for you. Unfortunately, with your OBD1 system guys like Black Bear and Wheatley can't do much for you.

As far as your first question, I guess I don't understand what your are asking. Will what be ok? Yes, you can clean it and it may help performance if it hasn't been done in a while, but its not going to do what a chip does.

Also, I have been very happy with my TB spacer. It is a cheap and easy mod that does help on your motor. You will read a lot about TB spacers being paper weights, junk, etc. This is true for new motors, but for you TBI motor, which is basically a electronic carb, it is a valid upgrade.

Ok, great...I will try the TB spacer...any brand better / worse than others?

As far as the first question, about "will the TB be ok?"...I was trying to say, do I need to replace it when installing a new reman motor, or, if it is cleaned will it function just as well

Assuming there is nothing wrong with it, then you should be able to use it as is.

All TB spacers are about the same.

As far as chips, I have thought about using these guys for my 95...Click Here
