Toolbox Rattle

I've been hearing a rattle lately coming from the toolbox i've found out where the sound is coming from and (its from a rod inside the toobox that makes both handles open) it's rattling back and forth between the metal on the box. So i need something to put on both sides of the bar so it wont make noise when it rattles or something that will let it slide still when opening up the toolbox...any ideas?

some rubber weather stripping? some 3M double stick foam tape---just don't take the plastic off of the opposing side? if i understand correctly...

what brand is the toolbox? that might help me understand its construction and operation.

If it's the type that has long rods that go from one end to the other of the tool box, then try a piece of foam pipe insulation. It will be loose enough to let the rod move on the latches and maybe thick enough to keep things tight and not rattle. My son had a similar situation with his truck tool box.

Stop by the auto supply store and pick up a piece of heater hose/vacuum hose, the right size to just barely fit over the rod.

Cheap and effective.

the stuff you use between a topper and the box would work. did that to my tool box on my old truck. if im understanding you correctly. just line the inside where its hitting up against.

I do like the idea of some 1/4" pipe insulation though...
