First 'real' Towing Trip With The Silverado

Hi.

I got my current truck, '07 Silverado 3500HD, in June of last year. And although I have camped many times with the truck, it's usually just been within an hour or so from home.

This weekend we went to Waterloo NY for shopping at the outlet stores (back to school shopping). 4.5 hrs from home.

So frist 'real' trip with the truck towing.

Dang....do I love diesel. My previous truck, '02 YukonXL with a 5.3l, towed the trailer ok, as long as I kept it at 55mph. The Silverado, set the cruise at 65mph (which is fast enough for me....perhaps a little too quick but was wanting to set at the speed limit), the truck towed beyond my expectations. At times, I forgot I was towing anything. :rollin:

Tach was around 1600-1700rpm and truck sat in 6th gear. Never once did it downshift on any hills.

Looking forward to upgrading to a fifth wheel sometime in the near future. :rollin:

Hell, your truck shouldn't have even known it was back there.

Hell, my boat is 6000lbs (boat/trailer/fluids/gear) and I still beat most vehicles through intersections. :rollin:

The fifth wheel is a totally different world. The truck will really tow it easily and ride alot better with the 5th wheel also. I tow a 33 foot carri-lite fifth wheel and my truck doesn't realize its back there. The advantge to the 5th wheel as I am sure you know is the turning radius and being so much easier to get in and out of so many places.
