Paint Protection

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra Denali that is white. I live in central new york. I have noticed lately there are some chips on the body of my truck that are really starting to bother me. I wax my truck several times a year and with winter coming up I would like to protect the paint the best i can without spening a million dollars. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your help in advance

I had my 2009 Sierra protected by a product called Venture Shield. It is a 3M like clear film. I did the head lights, fog lights, front bumber, front of hood and front fenders, the door handle recesses and the bottom 12" down each side of the truck (molding down).

I put mudflaps and rocker panel covers that go from bottom up to protect the body and the Venture Shield on headlights, turn signals and painted surfaces of the front of my truck for rocks kicked up from other vehicles.
