What's messed up on it? Did you not get the plug out? Have you looked at this article in the tech wiki?

I would like one of those with the plug for my truck too.

You can add a plug to your pan.

Yes sir, I read it.. I rounded the head off. I was wondering if i took the pan off just maybe I could get the bolt out then. But on the other hand with my luck I figured I'd order a new pan just in case since I do want to be able to use the plug...

Or could I leave the original plug in the pan and add another one somewhere close to it ??

It is my suspicion that GM only used the deep pan on trucks 99--07

GMparts direct only offers one pan'

They only list the deep pan part# 24229658 and this pan does NOT have the drain plug.

Just get an aftermarket pan with the drain plug. They come in aluminum or steel. Some of them are not than expensive.

The first picture is of a deep pan.

A shallow pan is on 2 inches deep. With the deep pan being about 3 inches.

I ordered pan from autopartsdirecttoyou.com Do NOT do business with these folks. The price was great but the pan doesnt fit the truck although they assured me over the phone.. it has a lip on the inside of the pan that hits the outer edge of the filter making it impossible for the pan to fix.. they will not take the pan back even though it hasnt been fully installed !! They suck.. Customer service blows. They said i can send it back at my charge and they will determine wether or not i will get any kind of credit of the return. that was after i told them they would never get business from me again !!

to solve the issue of the drain plug check summit or Derale directly. Get a cooling tube pan they ALL have drain plugs. They make 2 different models in most cases. They make one that is standard capacity and one that holds 3 extra quarts. For those that have crossmembers and everything else in the way get the standard depth if you have room to add an inch or more two of pan get the extra capacity pan. And yes the cooling tubes help prob on average a 20 degree drop in tranny fluid temps. Hope this helps.

This link is to a pan for a 4L65E & 4L60E which I think is pretty common in 1/2 ton trucks its Part Number DER14104 for those that want a part number.
