4l60e Fourth Gear Problim

2000 4l60e, when it warms up it comes out of fourth gear and will not go back in. Lock up is still working properly but only third gear. Fourth servo seal has been replaced already. Tranny has about 90k on it and other than this it works great. Please give me some directions to look in.

I think you MAY have a 3-4 clutch going south,if you feel the 1-2 being good ,and no or slipping 2-3 ,its done ,especially if the oil is a little to alot dark in colour.

 

take it to a tranny shop or a dealer ( who knows these trannies very well)and get an estimate,

 

The General has a nice warranty for there rebuilt trannies 3yr -60k KM or 1 yr if they rebuild it

I have to agree with gmtech4 on his diagnosis.....

 

... and once you've paid for the R&R labour, you might as well get a complete rebuild includng the torque converter, clutch set and valve replacements

 

.. depending where you are, you might get good service at a trusted transmission repair shop (or a dealer with a good transmission mechanic)
