6.0 Exhaust Manifold Bolts

My 2001 HD has a 6.0 litre and the heads of the exhaust manifold bolts are starting to pop off, I talked to a guy I know that used to work at one of the closed dealer ships and they say this is a common problem,

 

but the dealer I bought my truck from says they only have repaired a couple

 

How common is this ??

Very common problem. GM made revised bolts in late 2004 which stops the bolts from breaking off. If you have broke off bolts, over time your manifold could become warped. Good news is, broken bolts are easier to take out cause of aluminium head I guess. Unlike an older Ford engine, where it was a major headache to retract broken bolts.

Friend of mine just repaired his uncles 6.0 w/ broken exhaust manifold bolts...must be pretty common!
