2002 Silverado Amp Install

i am trying to install my amp but i cannot find a place to bring a wire through the firewall, is there any way i can bring in the wire without having to drill a new hole? it is a 2002 extended cab silverado without onstar, 5.3L if that matters. thanks in advance

Lots of folks have managed to push the power cable through the existing grommet and then used silicone to seal it up. I drilled a hole in mine and used a firewall bushing to protect the cable. I would assume that the size of the cable might be a factor as well.

That's what I did. Use a wire coat hanger to push the rubber grommet out and run your power cable thru it (remember to make sure the power cable is on the inside of the grommet).

1. You also want to run the power and AV cables down seprate sides of the truck.

2. Remember to use a good ground. I used one of the rear bench seat's bolts as my ground, use a little fine sand paper on the floor to make sure you get good metal to metal conact.

3. And you can use the blue "power antenna" lead wire to power your amp on and off when the key is in the ignition. Let us know if you need any help.

thats why i did, worked fine

 

 

 

i mean i drilled a hole and put in a new grommet because i used 0 guage cable... too big for the existing whole
