Squeaky Seat !?!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

So, I did some searching but did not find a similar topic. The passenger seat on our '06 has a VERY annoying squeak in the back rest. It's fine when I'm driving by myself, but with my wife along today, it was quite annoying - to both of us. When I listened closely, it seemed to be coming from lower down in the backrest.

Is there a way of accessing the inside of the seat, or is there anything else I can do? BTW - they are cloth covered.

Thanks in advance.

Nobody???

I did some more searching, and from what I read, this is a fairly common problem, but there were no clear resolutions.

I guess maybe I'll have ot go to the dealership???

My 06 YD had lots of squeaking from the rear lower portion of the seat (leather). Mostly driver, but the passenger side was starting to squeak as well. I took it to the dealer several times for that issue. They "adjusted" the seat several times, applied a TSB that involved some type of velcro-like material, and even replaced several parts of the seat including the base and frame. It never actually went away. In fact, after they adjusted it, sometimes it just got worse.

My friends 800 series silverado with cloth seats had the same issue. Dealer never could completely fix his either. Just made it a little better. So perhaps you'll have better luck.

Thanks for the reply - not too encouraging though. The one good thing is that it's the passenger seat, which is not used as much as mine. But I know if it continues, my wife won't be too impressed - especially on the longer camping road trips...

I have an 06 Sierra CC with the same problem. I took it back to the dealer under warranty and they ADJUSTED it as well. I more suspect that it sat on the lot while I was without a my truck for the day and they didn't touch it. Still squeaks its annoying I agree with you!

I have the EXACT same problem on my 2006 Escalade. Passenger seat squeaking but only when my wife is sitting in it. I am scared to bring this up to my dealer with all the warranty issues I have been having...

I have an 07 Sierra Nevada Z71 Classic with the the same problem in the driver's seat. Just started in the last couple of days. I bought the truck used three weeks ago. As it is still under warranty I am going to have the dealer take a look. If they find anything out I will let you know if they indicate anything different from the other posts. FYI, Cloth interior, no power adjust feature.

Have them check the lumbar pan in the back of the seat. In most trucks these are manually adjusted but in the case of the AN3 and AN4 optioned trucks these are power. try adjusting it first and see if the sound changes or goes away.

my 01 silverado with cloth seats had annoying squeaks everywhere when i first got it. i spent about 3 hours trying to figure out what it was and im not lying i sprayed half can of WD40 under the seats everywhere and the squeaks stopped. it smelled awful for a few days but it was worth it to get rid of that extremely annoying noise... idk if that will help but...

same thing here, both seats. If the driverside (power seat) is in just the right place it will be every time you take off from a stop, if I move the seat it will stop. Passanger side does it all the time. I have took the seat all apart and cant come up with anything. At least I am not the only one. I did put a pair of heavy leather work gloves in the back pocket of the driver side seat and it has not made a sound since, either that or my wife moved the seat.
