2005 Sierra Passenger Side Seat Belt Problem

Just got my son a high mileage but otherwise good condition base model 2005 2wd Sierra.

Hopefully I can explain my concern properly - I've been spending some time ridiing shotgun and the passenger side seat belt seems to be off to me. The belt seems to maybe have the metal part (latch / hook / tongue ?) put on wrong if that is possible. I have to twist the belt in order to latch it and the belt is twisted across both my lap and shoulder. When not in use, the metal part of the belt is against the seat - it seems it should be away from the seat so that when in use the belt itself would have to be twisted. Is everyone elses like this? Is there a reason for it or way to correct it?

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Sounds like the buckle just got spun around on the belt. Just flip it back around (takes some finagling, but you can do it).

That can happen? There is so little room for the belt to fit through the slot of the buckle I would never have guessed it was possible.

Thank you guys very much. I was able to fold the belt and pull the metal part over same. All is working well now. Thank you so much for the help.
