Tire Size

I am trying to find out what is the biggest tire that will fit on my stock 1500 Sierrs 4x4. Will a 285/75/16 fit this? I have 265/75/16 now and they have room to spare. They are just getting bald and need something more aggressive. Thanks

.... checked my tire guide and it indicates that the stock size for your '03 Sierra K1500 4WD is 245/75R16, with the optional upsize noted of 265/75R16

 

.... someone with the same truck/experience may comment as well

 

... otherwise, ask your tire shop what can fit

On this truck of mine, will 15" rims fit? I was wondering that also. Those sizes are a little cheaper than the 16". Thanks

15" wheels won't fit, unless you feel like clearancing your calipers with a grinder.

 

And depending on the width, and offset of your wheels, you should be able to fit a set of 285/75R16s with minimal rubbing.

Hi Rod. I'm a newbe signed up recently here. I'm just curious what your tire guide might say for my stock '06 Silverado 17" alloy wheels with reference to upsize (I bought the truck with noisy Firestone 285 70R 17s) and also what size wheel and tire might be indicated for upgrade to a 20" wheel/tire for same? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

there are so many different variations... you should check a tire size calculator like the one linked below:

.. or get some product literature from a tire shop

 

.. as far as I know from discussion by others... in a 17 inch tire your 285/70R17 (32.7 inch diameter) is as big as you can go in that wheel well

 

.. if you go to 20" wheels then a 275/55R20 is about 31.9 inch diameter

i put 305/70/17 on my tahoe and they barely rubbed. they looked so good i never cared. it only rubbed if i turned the wheels ALL the way to left/right. 1/15 of a wheel turn back and no rubbing, so it didn't affect the turning radius enough to matter. the back ones rubbed on the inner fender @ full suspension compression, but that never mattered either. unless you plan on driving like a bat out of hell, 285/70/17 will fit VERY nicely and likely NEVER rub. i for one, wished i had gotten the 315s b/c they don't rub that bad...

Whatever you perfer. you can Easily go with a 285 or a 295 but if you want to add a block in the back you can put 305's on it with just a little Torsion bar turning. If you are unfamilure with this, search and you will find alot of info on it.
