Problem Need Help

I was on my way to work today and a light came on that said engine hot ac turned off. Does anyone know why this would happen.

What was your eng temp. The system will auto shut off the ac if vehicle overheats.

Shouldn't do that. Check your coolant level.

Engine temp was 160 the lowest number on the gauge.

I fixed problem was the engine coolant temperature sensor. It was a pita to get to but it fixed everything

problem has comeback twice now i have changed the sensor a total of 2 times and i am not sure that is the problem anymore. if any one has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated

Did you check the wiring? Perhaps try some dialectric on the plug. Maybe there is junk inside the sensor plug causing a bad connection. You out of warranty already??

I'm out of my bumper to bumper I just don't know if this would be covered under power train warranty

I imagine it would be. I don't know specifically, but I would say powertrain would include anything that propels your vehicle down the road. And some sort of a cooling system/overheating problem I'd say would qualify. I guess all you can do is take it in and see what they say. Just don't tell them you've touched it....that might give them a reason to nix your claim...I wouldn't put it past em.

Well from your previous post you said temp was 160, which is low, should be around the 200 mark. So your coolant is either not hot enough or you have a signal issue. Is it the original t-stat or an aftermarket? You could have a stuck open t-stat. But I would still take it in and see if they cover it. Can't argue with free.

They aren't going to cover that w/ the power train warranty....keep troubleshooting. I had a similiar issue w/ my 02 and the sensor in the bottom of the coolant reservoir was causing it. Not sure about the 900's though....good luck!

thanks for everyones help i have an appointment on Wednesday with the dealer to see what they have to say. ill post what they tell me. hopefully its good.

The dealer said it was caused by a bad t-stat and that is covered under the powertrain warranty
