Leveling Kit Claims?

I was wondering how is it that different companies that have the same amount of lift for their leveling kits can claim to fit different max tire size? For example a skykjacker 2" leveling kit spacers claim to fit a max of 285/70/17 = 32.7x11.2 tire and a Revtek 2" leveling kit spacers claims to fit a 33x12.50? From what I have been reading in this forum, a 33x12.50 will rub with just a leveling kit.

# 1 reason is sales. sales department knows that most people are *generally* stupid when it comes to this stuff so they can make any claim about tire fitment without the need to back it up.

#2 - do either of those manufacturers give wheel width/backspace details? The one kit might be claiming "33x12.5 on stock wheels" whereas the other kit might be claiming "285/70/17 with an 8" wide wheel and 5.5" backspace max". A stock 7" wide wheel with 6.0" backspace can squeeze some 33x12.5s with trimming on a 2" kit.... if the 33s run small. If they run true to size or oversized... you're SOL.

I see from your sig that you have 33" tires...what type of 3" lift do you have? did you have to do any trimming to fit those tires?

I have a 2 in daystar kit on my with stock 17's and i can fit a 305/65/17(33X12.00x17) with no rubbing at all. I know with aftermarket wheels with negitive offset you can't get anything bigger than 295/70/17 on the truck.

I installed a CCM 2.5" leveling kit in addition to a Zone 1.5" body lift.

I am running Cooper STT's in LT305/60R18 (actually 32.64" x 12.09" on 9") on Moto Metal 18"x9" with a +18mm offset.

Absolutely no rubbing at all, even at full cock and tilt.

I don't believe you can get 33x12.50's with just a 2" leveling kit, unless you have a large + offset on the wheels (tuck them in) or you wanna cut a little.

dont even bother trying those tires with a leveling kit i have yet to seem em work on a nnbs. Generally you need about 4" of lift to completely clear 33x12.5 With a level kit u can fit them under there but they will rub when u turn, when u back up, and when ur off-camber. I tried it, it sucks, ended up with a suspension lift.
