Does Rain Sound Extra Loud In Your Extended Cab 07-09?

Recommended Posts

It rained heavily here on Tuesday. I noticed while driving there was an abundance of sound coming from right where the doors meet near the door handle. It sounded like more of a flowing or trickleing sound than spashing. At first I thought water was running between the window and bottom seal to trickle down the inside of the metal door.

When I got home everything appeared normal. I now think the sound might have been water sheeting down the outside of the window and splashing on the black trim ledge at the bottom of the drivers window.

Has anyone else noticed this? Would in channel vent visors help?

I've noticed it but I've never been able to pin point where it is coming from.

Well, it looks like your truck has the exact same cab style as mine so I am glad someone else has noticed too. I am sure it has to be something about the airflow forcing the rain around the lines of the truck.

i notice it as well, but like vdubmurray put it, i'm not going to stand in the rain looking for it, i just turn my radio up until i don't hear it anymore.

I've noticed it under heavy rain, but haven't been able to pinpoint it. Doesn't bother me enough to stand in the rain looking for it.

It is reassuring to know it is normal. Does anyone here have vent visors on their extended cab? If so do you have the stick on or the "in channel" style and did it reduce the water sound?

From S. Tx., what is rain? We are in a two year drought, bought the truck in April and did not turn on the wipers tell one day in Sept. Recently have had rain and I do not notice such on my 09 CC...Willies place or classic rock takes care of most such...I do notice some water noise from the tires, more than in my sub...?? As long as the water stays outside you are good to go!

i think it comes from the roof. maybe thin sheet metal on the roof or something to do with the space between headliner and sheet metal not having sound dampening material. ive got a dvd player and if its raining hard you cant hear it without headphones..

    • The whole story is false. The screw is there as a temporary fix to allow the pump to even turn on. When the nozzle is returned the pump shuts off.. • Whoever greenlighted the work truck matte black front bumpers on every trim but the AT4X should be fired!  I was hoping that was an AI mistake, but just realized they were on every model of the 2027 Silverado too.     Some parts of the interior do look premium, but the Denali Ultimate dashboard looks like an afterthought.  At least they appear to have lost the microfiber the high end Silverado models showed, but the '27 High Country dash looks better than the Denali.
    • New member here. I am researching a read-first event-recorder concept for late-model GM V8 trucks. This is not a sales post. There is no product link, price, preorder, or mailing list. I am trying to determine whether the underlying problem is real before building anything.   Has your truck ever had a brief problem such as: - rough running or a momentary misfire - an oil-pressure warning or unusual pressure event - reduced power or a brief stall - a U-code or lost-communication problem - a symptom that disappeared before the dealer or independent shop could reproduce it   If so, I would appreciate the following details: - year, model, engine, and mileage - what happened and under what conditions - whether a DTC and useful freeze-frame data were stored - whether the shop was able to reproduce it - what the eventual confirmed repair was, if known - what additional information would have helped the diagnosis   The concept being evaluated is a removable leave-in recorder that continuously retains a rolling window from before and after an event. It would not tune, reflash, clear codes, or change the vehicle calibration.   I am also not claiming that it could predict lifter failure or see every internal ECM variable.   The real question is whether continuous event history would add enough useful evidence beyond freeze frame, GDS2, and existing scan tools — or whether it would simply be another unnecessary gadget.   For owners and technicians, which problem would make something like this genuinely useful: 1. intermittent misfire or AFM/DFM-related behavior 2. oil-pressure events 3. lost communication or electrical faults 4. none of the above Please be blunt. Negative feedback is just as useful as positive feedback.
