8.1 Trouble With Warm Start (no Spark)

I have a 2002 2500HD with the 8.1 liter and I'm having a transient problem with warm starts. This has happened about once or twice a month for the pasy year. It will happen when I drive a couple miles to the store; when I come back and try to start the engine just turns over without running. I checked this yesterday as it happened at home; I pulled a plug and found there was no spark while having the no start problem. After letting the engine sit for about 10 minutes the engine started fine.

 

I'm aware of the 2001 recall for the cramk position sensor, but this doesn't sound the same. I've never had the engine stall while running and when the problem happens it takes 10-15 before the engine will fire again.

 

I know the easy question is take it to the dealer and spend a bunch of money diagnosing this, but I'm not there yet. So far I've gone to the local parts store and checked for codes, which there were none and I'ver never had a check engine light.
