Engine Swap

Hello,

I have a 1999 GMC Sierra Reg Cab Short Box Stepside with a 4.8L v8 and it is getting alot of miles on it. I was wondering instead of getting another 4.8L, would a 5.3L fit into this truck without many modifications. Like engine mounts, clearance, will it fit onto the same transmission, etc. Any feedback will be appreciated.

Yup same engine, same trans...everything...all you need is the computer from the 5.3L and plug it in.

 

Depending on the year you may have to make mods to the fuel system.

I have the motor - just in the process of putting motor all back together with new gaskets and all (May as well.. its out!) Also ordered headers for it, and going to do full exhaust. Hope to do the swap in next few weeks here!
