Power Mac G3 Need Help.

Hi All,

 

I was given a G3 Imac/Powermac (Blue), but had not system discs, and needed to reset password. Won a an eBay auction.

 

I received Mac OSX 10.3 today. install Disc 1 Upgrade disc

Disc 2 & 3 install discs.

 

I reformatted, repartitioned the HD (55.9GB), but being the moron I am, I never payed attention to the discs, and I did all this with the upgrade disc, disc 1. Now I am not able to install anything else.

 

What to do now?

Disks 2 and 3 are also for the upgrade? What OS is it...Mac OS 9? I am thinking so... that OS is gonna be pretty old and slow. Wouldn't you be better getting something slightly faster/newer? Just my opinion, i just bought a new Macbook Pro

 

Otherwise you could get on a bit torrent site and download the operating system that you need. Thing i have seen with the older macs though, (G4's in college) they are pretty picky on the disk they will take. I would have 3 different sets of disks to rebuild with and i would try each one usually to get the last one to work, then the next machine another set of disks would work.
