Ate Brake Rotors

Due to a seized caliper & pad I need to swap out front pads and rotors earlier than normal. I can get ATE PremiumOne rotors for approximately the same cost as premium regular OE replacement rotors. ATE's are a slotted rotor but are significantly cheaper than the power slot brand (at least they are in my area). So I'm thinking of going with the ATE's but haven't found a lot of user experience on pickups.

Any thoughts / opinions. Specifically these are the ones I'm lookin at. http://www.ate-na.com/generator/www/us/en/..._rotors_us.html

I use ATE brake rotors on my classic Mercedes cars (mid 80's). ATE also makes brake calipers for these Mercedes cars. Overall, I am happy with their products, and I installed 12 ATE brake rotors on three Mercedes cars in the last 6 years or so and none of these rotors have given me any problems to date. The ones I installed were made in Germany or Italy.

Kevin,

I've heard several members post about damage (pitting, etc) to their rotors. I'm wondering if you are in a area that uses salt on the roads?

Yes roads are heavily salted here in Southern Ontario in the winter

I had ATE rotors on an old Audi and I liked them. They seemed to be high quality and lasted a few years before I sold the car. Performance felt the same as OEM. On my '04 Yukon, I had Stainless Steel Brakes rotors and pads for 2.5 years in the heavily-salted-road state of New Jersey. The rotors had chunks missing and were heavily rusted with very worn pads, so I had to replace.

For a year before trading in the Yukon, I had Summit Racing Equipment diamond slotted rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads. The stopping performance was much improved, and the plating still held up after a year on the non-wearing surfaces. Not sure if they make them for your ride, but just a suggestion to look into......

ATE is an OE supplier to German car manufacturers along with Balo and Zimmerman. I have never used ATE but have consistently installed Zimmerman rotors on a BMW. They are hands down better rotors than the OE Delcos that came on my Yukon as well as the Brembo OE replacements I put on when the truck was 3 yrs old. The factory Delcos pitted away in 3 yrs and the Brembos are also pitting. My factory Zimmermans looked great after 6 years of OH winter salt and I only changed them because it's recommended when you swap pads. I would trust the ATEs if they are made in Germany.

Thanks for all the info folks, did a little more investigation of my own, reasonably good reviews can be found at tirerack.com if you are interested. Basically the original price info I was given was incorrect. Stopped by Part Source on my way home last night and they had a deal on Wagner pads and rotors. Ceramic pads $73 and premium rotors for $93.

Wagner has always been a good name in brakes at least from what I know and now both pads and rotors are from the same company, should be no problem with them disliking each other.
