Readylift Leveling Kit And Rear Blacks

I am contemplating buying a front and rear leveling kit and blocks from Readylift for my 2007 Classic HD

I have searched a bunch of posts, and I know that I can just crank the torsion bars, but the Readylift kit looks pretty solid....

While the NBS trucks seem to have ball joint issues with leveling kits, I am trying to determine if the OBS HD's have the same issues....

Assuming I would add the leveling kit, I also want to install the rear blocks....cannot decide whether to buy the 1" or 2" rear block kit....I am not trying to level the truck, but raise it for larger tires....

My concern with the rear blocks is that I am afraid that would change the drive shaft angle and be hard on the U Joints....does anyone know if this is a problem???

I sure would appreciate all input and advice....thanks in advance.....

How much bigger in tires are you planning on going? If you go bigger tires, you're gonna want to upgrade your 4:10 to at least a 4:56 or higher. Even running 285's, i've heard about people wanting to change out the rear. I'm assuming you are wanting to run 35's? I'm not sure about these blocks you are talking about, but when I had a HD spring added in the rear I gained 3" in the rear. Also had my T'bars turned up prior to that and recently added a timbren ses which gave me 1" in the front.

Do these blocks lift the body?

What size tire do you want to run? You won't have any problems with u-joints. I am running 285's on mine without any mods. You can see mine in hd photos link

Sorry about the incomplete post....

The blocks are either 1" or 2" high and go between the rear axle and the rear springs....so it is technically a suspension lift in the rear, though pretty minor. Of course I would really like a 6-8" chasis lift, but the cost is a bit prohibitive.....

My concern with the rear lift blocks (I am favoring the 2" units) is that it would change the drive shaft angle and put extra pressure on the u-joints. For normal driving I am not too concerned, but when towing a 5th wheel I am concerned about added pressure....

The front leveling kit from Readylift give 2" of lift to the front....my 265x70x17 tires reub a bit on tight turns, and I am afraid 285 would be a lot worse. Since I have the 4x2 truck, it does not sit as high as the 4x4, so I get a little more rubbing. The 285x70x17 re about 33" tall and I am thinking that would look pretty good with a 2" lift and not rub....

I just don't want to do anything that will screw up the truck from towing or tear up the balljoints in 30,000 miles or jack up the ujoints when towing....

i would go with a 2 inch block and a 1.5" level kit. i have a 2006 1500HD 4x4 with torsion bars cranked up about 1/2 way and no blocks in the rear running 305/60-18's. driver side rubs a little bit at full steer in reverse and i had to remove the mud flaps. you wouldnt have a problem stuffing 285's in there with a 2" lift. as for worrying about your u-joints..dont worry. that much lift isnt gonna hurt a thing man. 6" lift is the magic number after 6 is when you gotta use wedges and stuff. i have an 86 with 10" of lift with 44's and i only had too lengthen driveshafts a few inches and wedge the axles about 1/2". in my opinion your chev would look sweet with 33x12.5's or a 305/60 (metric version) you can see my pics of mine in the show your truck thread. 285's are nice but a little more width looks nicer i think personally.... :smash:
