Why Does My 2008 Gmc Lock The Front Brakes When Off Roading

I can turn off the stabilitrak and traction control but when going through mud the tire that loses traction first will lock up. Its extremely annoying the way it jerks and it sounds like parts are gonna break. Am I the only one with this issue?

You can turn off everything...but that doesn't mean its actually turned off. The traction control and stabilitrac functions are never fully deactivated.

Someone in they're great wisdom decided that no one needs to know how to drive anymore and created all these wonderful computer programs so you cannot lose control of your vehicle anymore. Than someone else decided that these are safety options and that while you can "deactivate" them, you should not be able to fully deactivate them because they're safety related. The off button makes it so both these options are less noticeable...but on snow, ice, mud...they're still active, just in case you reached up for something and hit the button by mistake.

It used to be you had to know how to drive to take a RWD in the snow...now I could put my 9 year old behind the wheel and he wouldn't lose control.

So this is normal function? Boy whoever thought this up was an idiot. The last thing you need is the brake locking up. Why not just have the electronic locker engage? Oh well I wont worry about it then thanks. So what year is your 4x4?

Electronic Locker????????

Unless GM is doing something funky...or you put one in yourself.....you don't have an E-locker.

And like I said...its not for the people who know how to drive....its for the masses that don't.
