4wd Acutator ...loose Brown Wire No 4wd

I have a 97 z71 4wd with the push button 4wd switch. Currently the 4wd lights blink and the 4wd does not engage. I have found a loose brown wire under my truck near the transfer case....I am sure this is the problem. the wire traces back to the front differiential actuator. I think this wire goes to the transfer case switch, but I do not know where the transfer case switch is or what wire to attach it to. Supertech1979 had a similiar post and got his problem fixed, but I do not know what fixed his problem. if you are supertech1979 please post back and tell me how you fixed it...I have sent a message to you. If anyone can help please let me know.

I conversed with supertech1979 and Nate helped me out...thanks...I attached the brown wire from my actuator on the front diff. to the brown wire on the top of my transfercase where it was originally. However I still have a problem. my 4 lo and 4 hi lights blink when I make a shift...it seems as if I am in 4wd, but the lights blink. The 2wd light stays on constant as it should, but the 4wd lights blink....all help appreciated. and Thanks again Nate.

Hi Brett, I'm no mechanic but have fixed some problems with the push button 4x4. I'm really starting to despise this push button stuff. Too much to go wrong with all the extra wires and electric motors. I would rather have a simple gear shift lever. With mine I would try to shift to 4x4 and the light would flash and then go back to solid 2x4 light. Problem was the encoder. When I tried to shift to 4x4 I could hear the motor straining to shift but it was too weak to do the job. New encoder and now I can hear it shift easily. Can you hear yours shifting? Should hear the front diff shift also. Previous owner also had to replace the shift buttons. In my experience those are the 2 most common problems. I don't know how to diagnose the buttons but sure you could find something on the net explaining.

I can usually hear the transfer case shifting, but not every time. when I shift to N and then goto 4hi or lo I can hear it shift...but if I stay in D and then hit 4hi at say 10 mph I hear a small click near the dash of the truck but do not hear \ feel the transfer case.....i dont know what i need to do next. Mine is a 97 so it may take different stuff than yours Zaac. Help still needed.
