New Shocks

Recommended Posts

I bought my 05 crew cab with about 80,000miles on it back in feb. I have since put on about 10,000 miles. How do I know if I am in need of new shocks. Im not sure how long they have been on there. Also what would be recommended for my truck. Its not lifted nor do I plan on it. Any particular brand I should stay away from. Thanks.

I decided to change my shocks a while back because it bounced like crazy sometimes and on some dips or bumps, if I hit them going too fast, the truck would even feel like it fishtailed a little bit. And on some speed bumps, I could hear the shocks.

When in doubt... .Shocks usually have a long service life before the fluid begins dripping out of all orifices. However shocks last generally about 50 to 60k... (yes i know shocks will hang on well into the 100ks..... but ride quality does not nor does control) Depending on how you drive and road surfaces.... If the truck has 90k on the clock. I bet you will be quite surprised if you put a set of good shocks on it. May I suggest Monroe Reflex Monotube's Quite possible the best shock on the market in the ride quality department.

I sell these shocks and have a set on my truck.. GREAT riding shock.

Does it have Bilsteins on it yet? If not then it's time for new shocks.

blah blah blah......Bilstein is the only way to go. Monroe is a good shock, but the Bilsteins are in a different class.
