Lower Dash Removal

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know how to take out the lower dash plastic pieces. The pieces below the radio and stuff. Like where the ashtray is. I need to mount a powersupply somewhere (to big for glove box) Was wondering how much space is behind there?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Easy - Assuming the truck dash here. Remove the left hand fuse panel cover (piece that the door covers up when it closes) Use a 10mm socket and remove your parking brake mount and handle from the knee bolster. Remove the two philips head screws on the bottom of the same panel. Pull the knee bolster panel straight out. It has three retainer clips. This will expose two 7mm bolts on the left hand side of the panel below the radio. Remove them. Open your glove box. Pull the panel below your radio straight out. It has multiple retainers in it too.

this is for all the pieces below the steering wheel and center section correct? Do you know if there is any extra space under there??

Yes to both. Under the center section is a little tight, but there is some room. More room under the steering wheel section.

+1 on under steering wheel section, plenty of room, and probably will be a lot easier to service your power supply if you ever have to.
