No way to measure that man...I've had mine for about 10K and the only adverse side effect is that it made my right foot heavier.

But one guy could have gotten a tune and drive the shit out of his truck...another guy not so much

Plus...they're custom for everyone's needs and wants....

Overall...if the tune is well done...it should extend the life of the powertrain...the trans shifts quicker and firmer....lessening wear and tear...the engine is leaned out to the proper air fuel mix...and timing advanced so the fuel burns better, with less emissions, so less plug and oil fouling.

not to mention the MPG increase you get...which gives your wallet a much needed long term benefit...

There is absolutely no reason with a good tune a truck should not last just as long if not longer. It entirely depends on the right foot that is controlling the go pedal.

I am not saying someone could not screw a truck up with an improper tune, but a good tuner knows how far to adjust parameters. I would not just let anyone with EFI live lose with my truck.

yeah i hear ya, i'm sure theres the guy that did it for mpg and a little power when needed and then theres the morons that get it and put the hammer down all day every day..i was just curious, don't forget the cookie cutter none custom tunes that people run

I've been running a tune since 04 in my 03 SS and no issues at all. it still depends on how a person drives, and maint. they do..me, i drive like an old fart most of the time.. the thing to remember it that there are good people who know how to properly tune a vehicle, and there are some who THINK they can  buyer beware..

Just a lil info based on experience. My current truck does about 40K a year on a superchips tune which will be a blackbear in the future. My last dually the 96 ran 50K-60K year for 3 years tuned and no issues. Sold that truck but I do see it occasionally still on the road and running strong.

"The best indicator of how long your vehicle will last is the foot that controls the gas pedal. Assuming that the vehicle is not raced at every stop light and proper maintenance is performed, the usable life of the engine should not be affected in any way."
