Winter Wheel Issues

I have a '99 GMC Yukon 2wd and it came with the stock aluminum rims. My question is concerning a new wheel tire combo for winter. I want to get snow tires but put them on cheap steel rims, my concern it that maybe the heavier steel rims will adversely effect the handling and drive ability of the vehicle. Don't really want to break loose the summer tires from the alum rims. Any advice or tips of what or what not to do?

I've been running a steel wheel/winter tire combo for about 7 years on my last 3 trucks without any handling issues at all. I run snow tires on all 4 corners.

My truck has stock alloys and I run steel rims in the winter. When you lift the tires and rims, you really can't tell a difference in weight. I'm sure there is a difference, but you can't tell when driving.

thanks for the input. Does anyone know the bolt pattern of this truck? I has five Lugs and i think its either 5x5 or 5x5.5. have to be sure to get it right.

just go to tirerack.com or any other tire website, and they will have a chart to tell you what the proper pattern is

It a 5 x 127mm or just 5 x 5" thanks for the tip.
