I Need To Disable My Rainsense Wipers!

Guys, help!

My 2009 Silverado has the rainsense wipers and they are driving me crazy. We've been getting constant snow in Calgary this last week and the wipers have been useless. I have 3 options: off, fast or extra fast. No intermittent settings at all due to lack of moisture on the windshield.

Is there any way to simply disable the sensor and return to normal, intermittent wipers?

Thanks for the info! I looked at but isn't a connection I can easily see, the sensor shares a molded piece of plastic with the mount for the RV mirror, so the connections are hidden.

I agree! Rainsense wipers work great in the summer, but they suck in the winter. Why wouldn't they add a simple on/off switch to maintain normal intermittent operation?

Went out and took a quick look....the plastic cover on mine was loose,LOL, and I can see connection behind it...I think the cover just pops loose pulling from the right side but stays attached...??? Will mess with it later today...really have work to do..honest

That would make too much sense.

Yeah, a simple Rainsense ON/OFF option in the DIC would have been too easy!

or better yet, another switch position on the wiper control stalk.

Apparently "we" as drivers are unable to control the wiper speed. Another senseless option, I hate mine as well.

Pull The Fuse! That's what I did on my '05 Envoy, it made them just the normal intermittent wipers, loved them much better!

Which fuse? My truck doesn't have an explicit fuse for rainsense, only for the wipers in general.

Unplugging the windshield sensor will work and give you normal wiper operation.

There is no fuse for Rainsense on the 2009 unless it is hidden somewhere.

If no fuse ... remove the black plastic cover over the rainsense module and then just unplug the connector, then the sensitivity switch on the control works just like a manual/intermittent control from a vehicle without rainsense.
