Block Heater And Remote Start

Remote Start does not work with the block heater plugged in. Anyone know why and can you change it?

That's weird...its just a plug and a heating element that replaces a frost plug in the block...it shouldn't be hooked to anything.

Odd....I'll have to try that.

I know im my '07, the remote start will not work if the 4-way flahers are on. Just noticed one day, thought that was weird too.

It should work fine. I have been remote starting my 2009 for the last 5 days plugged in. Block heater has absolutely no reference to anything in the trucks computer. It's a 120 volt powered heating element in one of your frost plug holes. If you don't believe me trace the cord...... absolutely nothing ties into the trucks computer off the block heater circuit. You must have a limit that is not made........ like your hood not fully closed perhaps? The system has a bunch of different limits that all have to be made to allow the engine to start. If my truck wasn't plugged in I wouldn't be starting it...... it's lower than -40 C here today.... colder with the wind.

Ah, that may be it. I have the block heater cord coming out the hood. So I only close the hood to latch it and not fully close it. Did not figure that had anything to do with it.

Definitely....it's a safety feature so that if the hood is up, you can't accidently start the truck with the keys in your pocket.
