Nbs Single Cd Swap For 6 Disc

Can you do a direct swap of a NBS single disc OEM radio for the NBS 6 disc OEM radio in a 2009 GMC without any wiring changes? My salesman told me that the wiring harnesses were different and recommended just adding an aftermarket CD changer under the rear seat. Will the bluetooth functionality work if a 2007 or 2008 OEM 6 disc radio is used in the swap?

Salesman is stupid. Same harness. bluetooth will still work, its through the Onstar module and all the factory radios have the capability to support it. You will have to get it programmed to the truck if it is used.

I don't mean to thread jack or go off topic but you post got me thinking. I didn't get the 6 disc in my current truck but have had it in the last 4. Since I am an iPod user it just didn't seem necessary. So much easier to just grab an MP3 player and head out. I have my entire CD collection with me. What ever mood hits I have the music to go with it. My winter beater has an aux jack for the iPod and also has a USB up front. You can fit a bunch of music on a thumb drive and once again it's so much easier to carry. I am wondering if 6 disc changers are really necessary anymore? Just something to consider.

For what it will cost to obtain an ebay unit and pay the dealer to program, you could put into a goog ipod......very true

I agree the Ipod is a good option, but I didn't think I'd like using the input jack on the front of the radio all that well since you can't control the Ipod directly using the radio controls. In the area I live in you pretty much would have to unplug the Ipod and put it away every time you parked. I did a little more research since I posted the original note and the uPAC 29 seems like a good option since I could use the steering wheel controls and the Ipod can be connected and hidden away in the glove box. Found one on Amazon for less than $100, so I'm going that route instead of the 6 disc changer.

Thanks for the input guys.
