Setting Torque Wrench

I am needing to use my torque wrench and I can't remember for the life of me how to set it. It's an inch/lb wrench that has the handle you turn and the lock it in with the knob on the bottom. On the handle, it has 2 4 6 8 0 with dashes in between, for a total of 10 dashes. Are each one of these numbers equal to 10 inch pounds? I am getting a new one for Christmas, so I have to use my cheaper one until then. How do I set it?

whats the make/model of it? Have pictures?

Unlock it, turn the handle until the 0 lines up with the desired ft. lbs., and lock it.

.... i dont think that was his question... he doesn't know what the marks are indicating on his torque wrench. In other words is 2 = 2in-lb or 20in-lb?

 

I would assume that 2 is 20 in-lb from how he described it, but can't be sure unless he gives is the make/model...

If the markings on the torque wrench body go up in 10 in lb increments then the markings on the rotating handle will be the fine adjustment between the marks on the wrench body. thats the way mine works.

True. The 2 4 6 8 should be increments in between the whole numbers on the wrench body.

Like everyone else said...

 

the 0 2 4 6 8 is the ones increments...the numbers in the wrench are the tens increments. Align the 0 mark with the bottom of the L shaped mark...

That's 10ft-lbs/in-lbs/NM/yard-tonnes what have you

 

every notch after is 1-9 odds and the numbers obviously 2-0 evens

 

Some have numbers 0-18 as the wrench is graduated in 20's
