$20 To Whoever Solves My Problem.

Got $20 thru paypal for anyone that can help me figure out why my Yuk still rides like sh*t. Anything I roll over seems to jar the entire truck like I'm flying down a rough dirt road. Seriously, today I went over one of these and the glass in my cupholder sounded like it was going to break.

The entire vehicle rattles so I don't think it's an intermediate steering shaft issue.

Details:

--03 Yukon 2wd

--20" silverado SS wheels (don't tell me about the wheel size because I've been in a few trucks running 22's and they ride smoother than mine, which rides like a golf cart)

--100k

--Tire pressure at 30 psi

Things already replaced:

--New shocks (Bilsteins)

--New Bumpstops

--New tires (Bridgestone Dueler HL/Alenzas)

I'm out of ideas. $20 is a bargain to not have to drive around in a truck that rides like an EZ-Go.

First post that pinpoints the problem gets the cash :shakehead:

On my 97 Yukon I used to get a violent shake when I ran over certain bumps.

The problem ended up being a worn pitman arm.

It only happened with the 20" wheels, not with the stockers.

I was told that even a slightly worn pitman arm would be magnified by the bigger wheels.

Replaced the arm and all was good.

Good luck,

Big John NYC :banghead:

Does it feel like your wheel alignment might be out or visually on the tires? If it were i would think the bushings in the suspension arms, especially if it is hitting that hard. An annoying clunk usually is steering or sway bar bushings.

Ball joints. Does it have a rear trac bar?I know the new ones do cant remember if your year does.

Don't think so

Interesting

No, the alignment was checked and is all good. I've rotated the tires regularly and they're wearing normally, but I'm going to take a look at the bushings.

Did you try putting cream on it?

I'm a HUGE fan of putting cream on anything, so yes

So the list so far is:

-Struts

-Ball joints

-Pitman arm

-Suspension bar bushings

Thanks. Any other possibilities come to mind?

What's the load range on those tires?

I'd swap out the wheels/tires for stockers (if you still have them or can borrow a set from a friend for a day) simply to completely eliminate that question all together...because that's where 99% of people are going to tell you to look.

Oh...And all the Bilsteins I've owned have been more of a heavy duty or off-road type shock that made street driving rougher.

over cranking of the rear shock bushings? Could possibly cause them to stick and act like a broken shock, i know those shutter like all hell..

I'd bet its your bilstein shocks causing most of the ride issue. They are more of an off road shock. If you were going for a more cushy ride, I would have gone with something like monroe sensi-track. Second guess would be the pitman arm. :shakehead:

I am going back to something you already mentioned. Intermediate steering shaft. My 2000 would hit bumps and the entire thing would shake like mad other times not so bad. It depended on the angle. I can say angles rail road tracks and those damn turtles you picture would be some of the best offenders. A pot hole never seemed as bad. It took all of ten minutes to remove and reinstall the new shaft. I don't think I ever made a better investment.

If you have rack and pinion look for loose rack bushings and mounts.

Check your TREs, Pitman and Idler. Grease the whole front end as well. Ball joints could be out of wack. Are the tires balanced? That could cause some issues.
