Installed Bugflector II bug shield

I installed one of those Bugflector II shields yesterday. It took 5-10 minutes to install.

Their no drill design by utilizing the little plastic snap in retainers is a nifty design, the ONLY problem I have with it is that those little plastic retainers DON'T fit tightly into the hole.

Even in their instructions they say to use clear tape to hold them in place (which I did). I'm sorry though, I can't see that clear plastic tape holding forever.

I just think that's kinda tacky if you ask me. Otherwise it's secure in place and looks good. I didn't think I'd like it cause I like the look of the HD's hood line but I was pleasantly surprised. It made the front end look a little tougher which I wasn't expecting.

Do these things really work? I was thinking about getting one for my Tahoe. I have a hood mask now but I get lazy to put it back on after going to the car wash from time to time..

I've always had them and they seem to work.

They deflect the bugs up enough to get them primarily out of your line of vision when they go "SPLAT" on your windshield.

They also protect the front of your hood from stone chips... That is the main reason I have one on my truck...

Getting any wind noise with that MXR? I think Shaners mentioned something about it.

Not that I've noticed. Of course, it's kinda hard to see it from the driver's seat anyway. It also mounts quite some distance from the hood so there was no need to install the rubber bumpers they provide.

I bought a bugflector II. They have color coded ones for GM trucks. My local truck shop did not know about it but when he called they do make these. I'm not sure if they advertise these. I got a white one for my '03 1500HD. It looks GREAT! From 20 feet + you can't even see it. The color is injected and not painted on. I believe it looks better than the smoke would aginst my White. :thumb: Check it out, just add your RPO color code to the end of your part number. In my case XXXXXX-50u.

I used to have one on my wifes old 01 grand cherokee. It made alot of wind noise and when I went to take it off it was all scratched up underneath. I really want to put it on my truck, exactly how does it attach??

Pop your hood. There are 4-5 square holes near the edge of the hood. there are plastic grommets that go into these holes. Your deflector screws into these grommets. No screws or holes are made in your hood. They supply some rubber tits that are supposed to go on your truck where it might rub. I saw no need to install these. '89 and up should have holes from the factory in them. ( according to my local truck shop) I like mine but I did experience the gasket on the windshield creating noise but this was fixed with double sided tape. (see "guides" section of this web site). Remember to check on the color injected ones. Additional $20.00 but well worth it.
