Vortec-Z71 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I bought my 03 Silverado used (90,000 miles) and it shifts perfectly except the 1-2 upshift is sometimes hard. It seems to be smooth when I just start the truck and the transmission is cold but it is more noticeable when the truck is warm. It seems as if the faster I accelerate, the less smooth the shift is. I don't know if the transmission fluid has been replaced before (need to do that soon). Has anybody else had this problem or have an any idea what the fix is?
dlstewart01 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Mine does it on the down shift only because I have torque management turned off on the down shift. and I am too lazy to turn it back on. You could have an accumlator going bad in the valve body. http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=ca...oTg_pomfoNda2aA
Vortec-Z71 Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 Would something like that be expensive to replace?
dlstewart01 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Would something like that be expensive to replace? Not if you do it your self. Pulling the valve body is fairly easy. You don't have to remove the trans, just drop the pan. You have to pull it to install a shift kit. I've done it a bunch of times so it can't be too hard. You need a good 4l60e manual. You can probably find what you need here including the trans manual. http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/merchant...mp;Store_Code=2
Vortec-Z71 Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 If I have the fluid and filter changed, won't they have to drop the pan anyways? Maybe they can will be able to see whats definitely wrong with it then.
700 sportsman Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Here's a link to a hell of a repair manual for your trans: http://www.truckmodcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3865
