Hd Tranny?

well, i know the tms sucks on the trucks. but im starting to think i might have an issue.

 

heres the situation, happens everytime i drive this route. heading down on a flat road that has a y in it. if i make the light and go left (which i have to) uphill the tranny will look for the right gear, as the rpms go up and just before it finds that gear i hear something in the tranny. what i will describe it as is, maybe a bearing chatter as if its loose before the clutch pack ingages. or maybe the band is a little off killter and as it goes to close up it has a viberation sound. i check the fluid but its spot on.

 

 

any sugestions? anybody else heard that before?

Put some Lucas tranny additive in, costs about $10. My HD had a shimmy going into gear for a while, then months later 2 codes popped up. I cleared the codes, put the tranny additive in, drove it around for about 20 Min's to mix it in and let it sit over night. I had to use the truck the next morning to pull my 20' enclosed trailer loaded for 150 miles one way. That was 2 months ago and it"s working great. I have never been a firm believer in additives, this has opened my eyes to one thing. This is not saying it will fix your problem, it might help and is a cheaper attempt than a tear down. IMO

I'm with gmtech4. 5 year warr. I wouldn't put a drop of anything in it. Take it back to a dealer.

Yeah but you still have the 3 year 36,000 mile warrenty unless your over the mileage, as stated I wouldnt put any addtives in there as its just a band-aid for a problem if you have one and I believe the manual says no addtives.

Sorry, missed the 07'. I agree don't put anything in it, call a dealership with your Vin#, if it's still covered take it in.

07s have 5 yr powertrain ,I know 'cause as a tranny guy at the time I said "oh great ,i get to rebuild these oil patch trucks trannies 3 times under warranty" lol

 

present your ownership to an advisor and he'll run your vin and tell you whats up oh tay?

well today i checked the fluid again on level ground. my driveway is on a slope. i was a quart low, we will see if thats it tomorrow morning as i do the hill again.

 

i hear ya rich, i hope this is it. i dont have anything to drive if i have to give it to the shop. plus the work i will lost out on.

its funny what a quart of tranny fluid will do, lol.

 

i didnt hear the noise. it didnt shift in and out of od in cruise as much as well.
