JoJoJim Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Maybe just a coincidence however I had my dealer do the drive shaft lube spline job a couple of days ago. The next day the tow mode that is on the gearshift will not engage. Is there any wiring down by the drive shaft that might have become disconnected or is that just wishful thinking. I would take it back in but down the road about 300 miles and will not be back for a few weeks. Any ideas will be appreciated. 2001 8.1wAllison 4wd crew cab. This has been a great truck purchased new and now have 149,000 on it.
Stevens03 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 There's an orange wire that controls that and shorts out over time. Fix that and you'll be set

pwall Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Remove the rubber seal at the end of the shift-level on the sterring column. That is where the wire normally breaks.
