How Do You Service Gm Extendable Mirror?

I recently purchased a 2005 Sierra with the GM extendable mirrors. The driver's side mirror glass was broken so I had it replaced by a local auto glass shop. However, when I try to extend the mirrors, only the passenger side extends willingly. If I pull on the driver side mirror head as I press the extend button the mirror will extend (and retract). I tried lubing the extension tracks but it still binds. I would like to open the mirror head assembly to inspect and hopefully correct the problem. I found two torx head screws holding the bottom of the cover but not sure how to free the cover to access the motor and track assembly. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks,

I had a similar problem with my mirrors and someone sent me the following text out of a service bulletin. It doesn't tell you how to take the mirror apart, but..... I tried this without using the dry graphite and it made it worse. I cleaned off all the non-dry-graphite lube and used the dry grapite and it's been good for the last 3 years.

"Customers with the new outside rearview power camper mirrors (RPO DPF) on 2003+ model year full size pickups, may comment that these mirrors may not fully extend. Customer will note that the motor is functioning but the mirror will not extend. A clicking noise also can be heard and customer may think that this is a broken component, when ,in fact, it is the internal clutch of the mirror motors operating. Root cause appears to be dirt build up on the white nylon slides causing the mirror unit to bind. Have dealer clean the slide areas, and then spray lube the nylon slides with a graphite dry lube"
