Can't Decide On Leveling Kit Or Suspension Lift?

Recommended Posts

I like the look of some leveling kits and wouldn't mind putting some 22" rims on my truck but I also like the look of the 6" lifts out there. Just don't feel like spending the $ for a big lift and the rims/tires that come with buying a kit. Will a suspension lift negatively affect my smooth riding Z71 suspension? It drives perfect now so it's hard for me to mess with it.

theres a simple solution.... 3" body lift =)

you'll get more height than you would with a leveling kit but less height than a full suspension kit and without the cost, and it does not affect suspension design/geometry so it,ll have minimal affect on ride quality.

I will say YES, a suspension lift will effect your ride. I just put on my BDS kit a few days ago and drove on a 380 mile trip.

I will say, kudos to the GM engineers, the stock ride is REALLY nice. The ride is noticeably rougher after the install of my kit.

so you agree with me then? i was saying to get a bl because it doesnt mess with the suspension..... hence a suspension lift would change ride quality (although some would argue its better after the lift.....ride quality is very subjective to personal preference)

Personally I think the ride is to soft and floaty stock, even so with fabtech suspension lift and oem shocks/coils.

I might look into doing a body lift then. I've heard it affects accessories you add later and space in between bumpers? Any good recommendations for body lifts?

It won't affect the space in between the bumpers.... the relocation brackets keep everything in factory positions.

If you want to add a brushguard, then that would be an issue since the body will be 3" higher than most guards are designed for.

I have the Zone 3" body lift on my truck.
