Reconsidering My Tune This Weekend

So, I am excited to finally get my tune. The problem is I messed around and not ordered my extra modules. The last few months have been hectic. I probably will not have any issues and wont need them, but there is always the what if.

Only thing I can think of would PM Jennabear and see if it would be possible for Justin to bring a pair with him. I don't know if he can or not, but it's worth a shot.

Check your local junkyard. I know they stock them around here for a reasonable price.

I'll be there this weekend also to tune my 07 Vmax. My truck goes out of warranty in April so I didn't bother getting the extra tcm or ecm. I started thinking about the drivetrain warranty and emailed Justin about bringing a pair and I would buy them. He said he wouldn't be able to with security the way it is now in airports, and also (in your case anyway) only had 07's left in stock now.

Wow, can't get through security with computers from a truck.

I was hassled for having "to many chargers" in my laptop case one time. I told the guy "I have 2 cell phones, a GPS with both a wall and vehicle charger, a laptop, and a BlueTooth headset with a charger" all of which were in that laptop case at the time of inspection.

Worst case scenario, the dealership flashes over your tune. If that happens order the modules from Justin and he'll put the tune on there before he sends them. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Just an FYI. I have had a BB tune for well over a year. I have been back to the dealer a few times and have had no issues. Of course, I have had no engine related problems or trans problems. I also got close to a couple of mechanics at my dealership and they were impressed about how much I knew about my vehicle. Was discussing programming and they told me in their experience it has not been an issue unless the motor fries and they find you put a tune in. It is more of a problem on the DMAX trucks I think because of the serious HP you can add with a programmer.

Don't tempt me! I'm still loving the power my new D-Max has as compared to my old 07 5.3!

BlackBear says the Autocal should be coming out shortly.

That's the way I want to go. You don't need to change out the PCM or TCM.

You need a laptop. You plug the Autocal in the ORB port and record your driving conditions, upload to laptop, email to Justin. He does a tune, emails it back, (you save the original OEM file) you upload the Justin tune via laptop/autocal to the ORB port (TCM/PCM).

You can change/swap files whenever you like. Justin can send several different tunes and you can change them out whenever you like.

Sounds Sweet to me. I am on the waiting list for this products release (shortly, I hope)

I simply called and asked if the they has an ECM and TCM for my year model truck. They did and quoted a price. $150/$50 I think.
