Aftermarket Shock Questions

I'm installing the front Monroe Reflex Monotube shocks on my Silverado 1500.

The factory shocks had a aluminum sleeve that went over the shaft but inside the rubber bushings. From another post, "This would act as a compression stop to keep the rubber from squishing out and keep the shaft from wallowing around in the upper mount of the frame. Plus there was also a Nylon bushing in the upper rubber bushing." All of this was missing on the Monroe shocks. With the Monroe shocks, I received 2 washers and 2 rubber bushings and a nut.

Is the difference in the shocks going to be alright? Why doesn't the Monroe shocks have the aluminum sleeve? Is it not needed? I'm guessing the rubber is a little stiffer, so it's not needed.

I looked at a bunch of internet pictures of other shocks, and they don't have the aluminum sleeve either.

Mines have sleeves, I like em, the bushing is holding up just fine, i did sand and repaint my rear ones though cause they were rusting a little after a winter.

Monroe puts a lot of time in shocks and or vs aftermarket replacements that they make. I put a set of Reflex Monotubes all the way around on my truck 2 or 3 years ago at Thanksgiving. I sell Monroe and KYB shocks. Hands down monotube reflexs are the best shocks on the market.

You have nothing to worry about there bushings and washer are fine. 3 years of me changing oil on my two post lift and I have not over extended anything. Washers have not folded and the bushings are still tight.

If you are still worried go buy the bushings and washers from GM or LMC.

I had forgot what my truck rode like when it was new after the shocks I remembered......
