Hacking In Mp3 Player

I've got an 02 Silverado with the AM/FM CD indash unit. I added a cassette deck (OEM) using the OEM cable. I would like to get rid of the cassetted deck and wire a jack for my MP3 player. Can someone tell me what color the input wires are. Has anyone done this before? A new stereo isn't in the cards right now.

And mp3 player does not have enough WATTS to push all 6 speakers man.. you need to get some kind of player working then plug your player into the deck

I understand that, I figured that the signals coming out of the cassette deck were "line level" and would connect to the head unit before the amplifier. If I am right, then the signal from the MP3 player would be input to the head before the amp, which would then drive the speakers the same way it does now.

That is a valid option and the simplest, but doing so won't allow me to get rid of the cassette deck.

Why dont you just go to the dollar store and buy one of those line-in cassetes?

I just added a Precision Interface Electronics Auxiliary interface box into my 2005 and it works like a champ. Here is the link www.pie.net Just select your parameters and away you go. Once you get the part and part number you need, just scour the web for the cheapest price. I paid $65 for the one I bought.
