Just got this truck, and am having some issues ATM with the DIC. I really dont want to have to go to the dealer. <shrug>

So I want to know what this things got. and if at all possible what mechanical work has been done to it.

TYIA :dunno:

This was perfect, exactly what I needed. Now if anyne could help me tame my DIC and stop it from scrolling through all the languages that would be awesome!!

And you're scared of the dealer why? Have they bitten you before when you went in to ask a question?

Yeah, the bit me with a $60 labor bill one time when I got a sensor replaced that was still under warranty. I was pissed. I just dont want to have to pay for something I I don't have to. Not when we have such a great forum here with people who have a lot more experiance in these vehicles than I do.

I just came from a 99 F250, and this new (to me) 04 silverado Z71 is a whole 'nother animal.

Well I bit the bullet and took it to 2 dealers.

The 1st dealer hooked it up to the tech2, and could not get a reading on anything. Found out that a fused was blown, so they replaced it and were able to get readings to the scanner. The tech said that everything checked out and he was able to read info from all the sensors. He deduced that the problem was either in the buttons or in the cluster, or that the computer might need to be reprogrammed, but said that the guy who would diagnose this would not be in until Monday.

2nd dealer, the service manager came out to the truck, played with the steering wheel buttons for a few and said "yup it's broken"..."I think you need a new cluster which is gonna cost you about $500."

In either case no one knew for sure what the problem was, and they both wanted me to bring it back in so they could "diagnose" the problem and tell me how much it's gonna cost.

Anyone else with any kind of info that could help me out and prevent me from having to shell out $200 to "diagnose" and another $500 for a cluster?? Your help is greatly appreciated.
