Dis Langiage Keeps Scrolling

Hello,

 

I just bought a 2004 1500, fully loaded. But the problem is that the DIC keeps scrolling through the different language options. The truck does have steering wheel controls and I can verify that the top ones work (radio, on star, etc), but not so sure about the bottom ones, because I cannot access any of the DIC functions.

 

I have tried holding down the Trip Information and the Personalization buttons and releasing as it passes by English to no luck. I also tried pushing and holding the odo reset button to no luck.

 

What else can I do to set the language and actually get to the DIC functions??

HMMMM. Thats strange.

 

If all else fails, and no one gives you an answer, maybe try removing the negative battery post for a minute.

I'd try cleaning the button it might be stuck down.

Well it's definately not stuck, it goes up and down just fine. I can try removing the - battery terminal tonight, and see if that works. One more question though---Do the bottom buttons light up like the top one's do on the steering wheel?? I noticed last night they were not lit up.

I'd try looking under the button, it might be a button that presses another button... Similar to the HVAC buttons, if you've seen under those before. If I recall they pop off, but I'd verify that before trying to pop the button off.

I tried poping it off with my finger nail but that got me nowhere and I did not want to push it. Next I disconnected the - terminal and smoked a cig, reconnected it and we have some life...

 

Now, the Trip Information button lights up (the other 3 still don't), and when I press the Personalization button the language briefly jumps back and displays "English" then continues on scrolling between English, Spanish and french....

 

Please, any other thoughts?? I would sure like to know what the DIC looks like and what the actual miles are on this thing. TYIA
