Suspension Lift....let's Talk.

So I'm set to pick up my new '10 Sierra SLT All Terrain Crew on Friday or Saturday. I've already got my Borla exhaust waiting to be put on. Pretty sure I'm gonna stick with the factory All Terrain wheels, though I'm debating going to a 17"(or 18") AM wheel. I don't really want to go larger than 20" because most people seem to think there's a loss in ride quality, off-road ability, etc, etc.

I was thinking about leveling and doing a 2-3 inch body lift, but I don't really like the gap. Keep in mind, I've already priced suspension lift kits by BDS or whatever and I'm fine paying more money. I'm thinking about going with 2-3.5 inch suspension lift.

I'm curious of your opinions on a moderate suspension lift as far as ride quality, handling, etc., etc. Also keep in mind that the majority of my driving will be on the road with some off-road driving for hunting, camping and general outdoor fun. No crazy mudding or anything, but the 4WD will get used. I'll also haul a camper and boat maybe 10 times a year.

Basically, I want t take this truck and make it's off-road abilities more.....well....able. No radical lift or tires. Just a truck that's more capable than stock trim. I've had trucks my whole life, but I've never done a lift. Any suggestions on that or any other(rear end, etc) would be appreciated.

Oh yeah. As for the tires, I think I'm going to stick with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's if they make a size that will wok with the lift.

My '02 is on it's 3rd set of Revo's and I have to say that I've been really happy. I know they aren't very aggressive for off-road, but they've done fairly decent on jobsites and in the outdoors. Plus, they are so good on the road and in rain. Still....I'm open to suggestion.

its pretty much 6" or nothin when it comes 2 suspension lifts for these trucks. You can do 4 inch but it costs the same as 6" anything else is body lift or level kit.

I just read in an offroad mag the other day you can buy 2.5 inch lift using aluminum spacers(1.5 rear lift and 2.5 front) for the suspension, and keep original ride quality and ergonomics. I think they were made by Redi Lift/Ready Lift? They did it to a new bodystyle yukon or something and it leveled it out and it looked good. The mag was Petersens 4wheel and offroad btw. I would google that stuff and check it out.

Just out of curiosity I went and read the Readlift instructions. Their kit for the 2010 is 2.25" and at the end of the instructions it says the Readlift warranty is void if installed with a body lift or basically any other suspension product. Wow- that sucks.

What possibly could go wrong with a spacer? I can't imagine they have any warranty claims :uhoh:

I just installed the 2" leveling kit and it does just that for a cheap price.

If 2" is all you are after, take a look at the 2" leveling kit by Rough Country. There is absolutely no reason to spend any more than that on a spacer.

Zone makes a 1.5" BL and you could do a leveling kit. That will allow a 33" tire and some added height.

if you don't want a 6" suspension then IMO your best options are:

3" bodylift

2.5" spacer

4" CST or 4" BDS (with either of these kits you'll be paying the same IF NOT MORE than a 6" kit)
