24's Or 26's

Hey guys,

Does anyone know if a 305/35/26 or a 305/40/24 will fit a 08+ Silverado with just a 2" leveling kit ... or even without? Thanks!

I know for 100% that a 305/30/26 fits with MINOR rubbing in reverse with the wheel well plastic and mudflaps.

305/35/24 fits perfect aswell. Just want to have a little more sidewall with either 24s or 26s, whatever I decide to go with.

Thanks!

Both these tires exceed the max tire diameter (33") recommended with a 2" level only modification. The 26" wheel option has a diameter of 34.4" and the 24" option has a diameter of 33.6". From what I've read here, the 33.6" might be OK if you do some significant trimming of the fender areas or you'll get some major rubbing. But neither would work with a stock truck set-up!

I run 305/35/24 on my 08 sierra cc with a 2 inch leveling kit. no rub whatsoever. There is just enough sidewall where you dont have to worry too much about going slow over bumps or potholes.

Go with 24's...305/35/24. To put things in perspective I use to rub with my 2/4 drop up front. When I went 4/6 I rubbed even more, so I did some custom grinding behind the wheel well and it still rubbed when turning sharp. You want at least a 35 series tire....when you go to a 30 series or less your ride quality is a mess. Putting a 305/35/26 on your truck would be a nightmare. Good luck

Thanks man! Thats kind of what I was looking for. So how would a set of 24s on 305/40/24 look and ride on a truck?

Can't say for the ride, I imagine it would be harsher than if you had a tire with sidewalls on it.

For looks, it's all a matter of personal opinion. Myself, I don't like anything over 17" unless you're running 35" or larger tire. I like sidewalls. Smoother ride, can handle bumps off and on road (and speed bumps when mall crawling, don't even slow down for them, I don't feel them). Plus I haul a travel trailer, I need an LT tire that can handle a load.

But if you like it, it's your truck and your money, go for it, I won't judge

As far as ride quality with the 24's, its definitely not as good as stocks but it just depends on what you want. You just have to weigh the pros vs cons. Ive had 24s on my truck for about a year, i used to have stock 20s and its a rougher ride, but not anything crazy. I have enough sidewall where i can still go over bumps and potholes and all that. I took a 1000 mile trip with the 24s (dont recommend it) and when i got there i had them rebalanced and the trip back wasnt so bad. i dont regret getting them

I have no idea how that would look. Personally I wouldn't even consider going with that look. If I were going to do a leveling kit I would go a completely different route. If you are going to lower your truck and go for a sport truck type of look the 24's fill the wheel wells nicely. I have been on a lot of trips with my truck and have 30k miles on the tires. My truck rides great...you will need to have the tires road forced balanced. Mine have been balanced twice and that is it. My truck rides very smooth as I mentioned they are 35 series tires. For those that say 24's ride crappy, etc. well I don't think they have their truck setup right. I am very picky about things and would be straight up if my truck road like crap. I have spindles and stock springs up front with a flip kit in the rear...suspension rides close to stock with less travel and a little bit more stiffness.

I know I'm gonna get slammed for this, but the picture below is what I visualize when someone talks about putting 24"+ rims and tires on a lifted truck...

It just doesn't work for me. But I am a firm believer in...Do What You Want, It's Your Truck!!!

LOL, im not lifting my truck to put street rims/tires on it. I was thinking of a 2" leveling kit to get a nice stance with some 24s. Im gonna have to sell my 22s first. So we'll see... if I like how my 22s look on my new truck, I might just stick with them.

You won't have any rubbing with the 305/35/24 set up.

If you want to level it out, drop the rear. I don't like the look when the front's raised to level it out (only on the Silvys).

...they look awesome!!

To me, it is amazing how much difference there is in appearance when you are only talking about a few inches in suspension height!!
