Ugly Silverado Running Lights

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking about cutting the wire to the bottom amber running light (the one next to the high beams). I think it would look so much cleaner if the amber light next to the low beams was the only one running. I would still like the bottom one to light up with the turn signal too. I prefer the GMC ones better because the amber lights are on the inside, but the headights are not interchangeable.

Anyone thought or tried anything like this?

See if this helps.

Find the fuse box under the hood.

Check for this :

If the #'s are the same (they probably are), that corresponds to this on the diagram :

Which is this in the box :

I disabled mine when I put the HID's in.

Are you talking about the fuse for the Daytime running lights? I'm talking about the 2 marker/turn signal lights that come on with the headlights.

Well... if that's all you want, just buy some clear bulbs for them! (Or do they have an amber lens?) When you said running lights in your question I assumed you meant DRL.

Yeah I thought about that after I made the title. I think it looks dumb how the top low beam is on, yet there is a huge marker light. Looks weird and I'm wondering if it would look better without the bottom amber light.

What are you trying to say? Instead of the headlights on during the day have the amber lights on and headlights off?

No, at night with the headlights on, there are two amber lights on as well (the blinker lights). One is on top next to the low beam and the other is on bottom next to the high beam.

I want to get rid of the bottom one, since it stands out so much.

Ok I understand what you want now. I think someone here took the headlights ass. out and removed the amber lens but if you do that you will still have to get a amber bulb for your front blinkers and running lights so it will kinda still look the same. I believe he had to melt the plastic seal to remove the lens as the whole thing is sealed.

before cutting any wires, I would see if you could find a single filament bulb that would not light up with the running circuit but turn on with the flasher circuit....

You could just trade it in on a new GMC

Just remove the bottom bulb and look at it lit and see what you think. If you like it do what was said earlier and see if you can find a single filiment bulb that will fit and only flash w/ your turn signals. If anything dont buy a GMC! I know i'm gonna get flack for that!

I know exactly what you mean, the Chevrolet's do have horrible looking "parking Lights", the GMC's have a much better looking light assembly.

If you work something out, post a pic and I will probably do the same thing.

If I had noticed how bad the parking lights look before I signed the papers I would have gone GMC, since that is what my 03 is.

They look good during the day when the headlights are not on but at night they are ugly.

Well, if you want to keep your chevy that's fine. Just don't be cryin' about how your headlights look crappy!
