Transmission Chatter

I have a 2000 3500 Savana cargo van...I have noticed sometimes when, say for instance, you are driving up a hill and the transmission is in overdrive, if it downshifts while under a little load there is a noticeable, real quick chatter when the shifting occurs.. It is very quick and does'nt happen all of the time...I guess I have also heard it while shifting into overdrive as well..I am slightly concerned because I put on maybe a few thousand miles over the past year and a half pulling a #5000 travel trailer, and did drive it sometimes in overdrive gear...Not all the time, but I know this might not have been the smartest thing to do...So i guess my question is how potentially serious of a problem this might turn into given the symptoms listed above, and did I probably incur some damage using overdrive...Thanks!

That's the sigh of a bad Torque converter clutch, TCC solenoid or otherwise knows as a lockup solenoid/Clutch.

Never Ever tow in D...always use 3...or lower.
