its a hard topic, basicly the pick up truck is an american heritage, thus in my opinion we build the best, why? because we have had hundreds of years to perfect it...toyota kind of fell in line because they saw the sales potential here advertiseing "the terdra" being the best pick up ever, in the end they cannot run with the big dogs...if talking tractor truck's izizu has built awsome trucks and they are japanese..but in my opinion red white and blue is the best

So how many hundreds of years has the pick up been perfected? Since the end of the Revolutionary War? Considering that the U.S.A is only 233 years old, hard to believe................HAHA

For the midsize truck market, I still do consider the Toyota Tacoma to be the best midsize pickup; especially the Forerunner 4x4 SR5 TRD versions... to bad it looks like they have skimped and are failing at all their other market segments...

For fullsize pickups of course the good ole USA Big 3 are the only way to go....

Definite requirements for me.

  • Make must be GM or FORD.
  • Must be RWD. Could be 4wd but I'm not sold on IFS and I don't think anybody puts a solid diff up front anymore.
  • Engine bay must have V-8 or V-10. V-6 not an option!!!!
  • Ext Cab or Crew Cab.
  • NO Mexico built truck. USA or Canada (I've been driven a 2gtec for a long time).
  • MUST HAVE AN ENGINE OIL DRAIN PLUG. ( TOYOTA what in the FOOO were you thinking not putting one on a 2010 Tundra )!!!!!!

Then again I would like a, Sierra w/: 5.3/6.0/6.2L (whichever), 2wd, 4wheel independent suspension (YEAH I know it would not tow anything), 2.73 or 3.08 locking diff, and 4 doors. Maybe this is what I need to mod my truck out to...... Could you imagine It would probably corner like its on Rails.... And be a truck all at the same time. (If anybody on here is from GM and reading this..... I'd buy a new truck and eat crow about buying a new truck if you guys wannna build this)..... Edgewise I'm gonna drive my 99 for at least 10 more years...

Edit: Oh yeah...... They only make one size truck its a full size.... Everything else is a toy and should have Power Wheels on the tailgate. Don't give me the mid size or compact BULL..... You gotta step up to get into a truck its not a CAR.....

On another note- I'm thinking this thread is gonna be moved soon, sorry to go off topic by the way.

I don't know why people bag on Toyota trucks so much. They're DAMN capable trucks. They may look like the product of a bulldog humping a fire hydrant, but they'll pull like there was no tomorrow and they're no less reliable than a comparable Silverado.

Lot of people just like to hate I guess.

I am not bangn on them Just Dissn them for their stupidity for the NO Drain PLUG IN THE PAN...... Change the filter and top off the oil level...... I have seen some Yotas run that I would have guess was pretty well whippped out. My machinist in my machine shop. Has a 85 4wd with a 22re..... Its HORRIBLY rusted but still drives him back and forth to work (i doubt he has ever wash that truck EVER, maybe the dealer did before he bought it IN 1985).

I don't like the Tundra, the looks are what kill it for me, but my 95 Tacoma is a damn good truck. It's nowhere as nice or luxurious as my Silverado but as a 4x4 it is far more capable than my Silverado.

I've had two trucks with that motor, and I can attest to it being bulletproof.

Yup, we bought the building next door to my store and we remodeled it and put square tile the floor...... I put a pallet of (as I call them School house tiles) in the bed of my truck and one on a small trailer. So did the machinist with his 22r (prev said re but its a r it does not have fuel injection its a carb one)...... He walked off and left me........ My poor old truck cried all the way back...... Now I have a 5.3, 4l60e, 3.42............. But I think it was less than a ton in the bed and probably a little better than a ton on the trailers GVW........

I had a titan prior to my 09 GMC, it was an awesome truck and the only real reason I got rid of it was bc it wasn't a crew cab. Although, the GMT900 body style seducing me every time the commercial came on didn't help either but, had my titan been a crew cab, I probably wouldn't have gotten rid of it.

back when I was at the Tennessee Technology Center getting my Diploma in Auto Technology, we re-rebuilt a 22R for an 85 Truck for the HVAC Instructor because the Student Diesel FOOLS who rebuilt it last time ruined one of the crank journals. (They know their oil burners, but give them a gasser, they haven't a CLUE!)

HAHAHA, thats why diesel mechanics are confused with gas... And gas mechanics are confused with diesel..... Things are different gas vs diesel. I am glad to see the Diesels playn catchup with gas engine complexity thou.....
